Summer "Carnets de Michèle" 2

The Games started brilliantly. The opening ceremony was a real testament to British amazing creativity and unique sense of humour. I love it!  I also find so uplifting to see so many volunteers in the streets of London helping visitors to find their way to their various destinations across the city.

Here are some suggestions for this week:

1. Whether you have tickets or not for the Games, you may enjoy visiting the "houses" set up by various countries to entertain athletes and VIPS as well as to welcome the public to showcase their countries and Olympics related events. The Africa Village for example, has been created by 53 African national Olympic Committees in Kensington Gardens.  At the same location, the Russian Olympic committee has established Sochi Park  which features an Ice Arena  where  you can discover Sochi, the next Winter Olympic host city. At the Somerset House, Casa Brasil organizes an exhibition dedicated to Brazilian Contemporary Art. At Old Billingsgate Walk, Club de France is organizing daily and night events. At Inner Temple, you can visit the Belgian House and eat some specialties. At Trinity Square (Tower Hill), the Austria House Tirol organizes a Snow Day and Apres ski Party.

2. Stop at Euston Square tube station, go to the Wellcome Collection on Euston road to see the exhibition Superhuman, exploring human enhancement. As always, the Wellcome Collection has organized a clever exhibition combining science and art and raising social and moral issues. After that, walk through the new ‘King’s Boulevard’, a pedestrian walkway opposite from King’s Cross St Pancras and go to King's Place. Take a drink and relax on the terrace of the Rotunda facing the canal. If you have more time, ask the Sheridans who manage the beautiful boat Tarporley if you can go for a cruise on the Canal's Regent.

3. Stop at Old street, walk on Shoreditch High Street, watch for street art from the Belgian artist Roa then, stop at Milk Concept Boutique to see the beautiful objects produced at the Fornasetti Atelier in Milan.
